HHGTTG: 2-3 minute quote/recital for Speech class

My 13 year old son is reading the HHGTTG trilogy (is now near the end of the Restaurant) and is doing a Speech class at school (to help with confidence and stammer) and would love to recite a part of the book.

What part would you chose? It needs to be 2-3 minutes long and interesting/funny... I can only think of little quotes (time is an illusion... it hung in the sky in much the same way bricks don't ... or explanation about The Guide or babel fish...).

Suggestions welcome! Thanks, Jo

For me, the most laugh-out-loud section of all of the books is them chasing
the sofa around prehistoric Earth. "And this is his sofa, is it?"

Interesting thoughts.

For my taste, I think I'd bring it back to the start of the series - the
last 2-3minutes of chapter 3, ending with the destruction of the Earth.
At a guess, I think Jeltz's "People of Earth, your attention please"
would be a good starting point - makes a great intro to a speech, and
ends with a very nice cliffhanger that should get the audience wondering
what happens next!

Please let us know what he ends up reading and how it's received? :)

The Universe- Population, etc in the voice of the guide would make a good public reading....

Oooh, it would indeed!
(Chapter 19 of Restaurant in case anyone else following along wants
a quick reference).

I think whether it would suit a 13 yr old school reading might depend on
predicted reactions to point 7 (and the end of the chapter) being
reference to sex. Very much would depend on teacher and students though!

This expurgation, from the Wikia page [http://hitchhikers.wikia.com/wiki/Universe ]
Sex:
None. Well, in fact, there is an awful lot of this, largely because of the total lack of money, trade, banks, art or anything else that might keep all the nonexistent people of the Universe occupied. However, it is not worth embarking on a long discussion of it now because it really is terribly complicated.
